Whether you walk, hike,
trek, amble or stroll
Walking is so good for
your body, mind and soul.
When you walk on your
own, you can meditate on
on nature, clear your
head from a nasty argument
or plot the next murder
mystery you intend to write.
When you walk with a
companion, it is truly balm
for the soul and an
opportunity to strengthen a
friendship…
WE WALK
We walk, my friend and I
We talk, my friend and I
She, a scientist and I, an artist
Some of our views don’t match
But we fit, because we are friends
Mothers, daughters, sisters, women
And once upon a time, tomboys, too
We are each strong in our own way:
She survived being widowed, young
I, being a Vietnam vet-by proxy
We walk, we talk-
Sometimes we discuss our daughters,
Our mothers, her marriage, my singlehood
We are both disillusioned by our careers,
We continue for the money
She travels to forget, I write to build
A bridge to somewhere else
We like each other, though in many ways
Our paths diverge
Our paths converge, briefly
When we find the time
We are friends
We walk, we talk…
