Apalon Beauchaire

  In a Coast Guard tower
  on a leather flight jacket
a seventeen year old girl lay
  receiving a gift of love
 from a twenty-one year old
 drop dead gorgeous crew man
  who had previously stolen
 her heart with his first
 succulent kiss

  There had been many sexy
  conversations based on
   What if this happened in
  the future some day? and
  there had been an
  acknowledgement of obvious
  Love- at-first- sight attraction

But, she was a country kid
slow to trust a guy from
   the city
   because that’s what she
   had been taught

  He was bright, more worldly
  and had a wry wit
  She was constantly in stitches
  around him and
   he was wise enough, although
   young himself
   not to pressure her

   Trust grew by kindness and
   listening and
   making her laugh and
   stroking her long hair
   and telling her how much
   she reminded him of
   Veronica Lake

He was a master story teller
   enthralling her with a mythical
  character he called Apalon Beauchaire,
a French man, who was a
    World class lover and
   always got the woman
   of his desire

   The day it happened
     on a sunny afternoon
    in July
   She was visiting him
   on base in Port Angeles

He asked her if she wanted
   to see the tower
  Of course she said yes,
   adventuress that she was

    As they looked out at
     the bright mid-day, she
    kissed him and said,
    What if some day
    became today?

    He smiled big, took off
    his flight jacket and
    gently laid her down…
