The Prayer of St. Francis of Assisi

In this time of violence worldwide, ISIS recruiting over the Internet to assassinate  innocents and the every day shootings in our own country, I am remembering my favorite saint (Apparently Pope Francis' favorite, too, as he chose to take his name) Why can't we all get along? Unfortunately, that is still a mystery; However, I was thinking that if everyone, all over this planet, read this prayer every day (in addition to reciting our pledges of allegiance to our various flags) then perhaps we would be a step closer to PEACE...

  Lord, make me an instrument of thy Peace
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;

Where there is despair, hope,
where there is darkness, light

Where there is sadness, joy.
O Divine Master, grant that I may not

  so much seek to be consoled as to console;
to be understood as to understand,

To be loved as to love;
For it is in giving that we receive,

It is in Pardoning that we are, pardoned
And it is in dying* that we are born to

Eternal life.

*death of the ego

Peace be with you, brothers and sisters!
Amen...raintreepoet
